THIS National Day has to be Singapore's most star-studded birthday yet

Starting tomorrow, a series of five concerts featuring line-ups of over 30 regional pop acts will roll out as part of our 40th birthday celebrations.

Among them are Emil Chau, Mayday, F.I.R, Nicholas Tse, Twins, Landy, Evonne Hsu and 183Club.

Taiwan's evergreen star Emil and label-mates like Mayday and Don Gin will drum up a festive mood first at the opening of the annual Concert By The Bay series at the open field in Marina South tomorrow.

Fireworks and the nine-day Carnival@Marina, which features funfairs, theme parks and a food village, are also part of the attraction.

On the eve of National Day, another exciting concert awaits as Taiwanese pop-rock trio F.I.R takes to the stage with label-mates Tanya Chua, Machi, Nicky Lee and Dylan Kuo.

Boy bands 183Club and K-One will further raise the testosterone level and inspire more girlish screams.
When contacted on Wednesday, the bands' manager, Mr Suen Te Jung, told The New Paper: 'The guys are now busy rehearsing despite their busy schedules, and they will definitely bring a nice surprise to Singapore.'
Next Tuesday, fans will have to make a choice between Marina South and Yishun as two concerts are happening there at the same time.

YISHUN SHOW

Fans of Hong Kong rocker Nicholas Tse and Cantopop cuties Twins should head for the open field opposite North Point Shopping Centre in Yishun.

And those who support Taiwanese singer Roy Chiu and Indonesian Idol Joy Tobing should be at Marina South.
Finally, girl power will dominate the last of the Concert By The Bay series to be held on 14 Aug.
Sexy R&B singer Landy is expected to dance up a storm, while pretty popsters Evonne Hsu, Nnadia Chan and Sweety will take turns to serenade.
