I became a fan of Jackie Chan
nearly two years ago. I was surprised that he also sang. I
was learning about Jackie's beautiful voice, so a friend of
mine made a tape for me to listen to some of Jackie's songs
so I could have a sample and choose a cd to buy. But she said
she also loved a man called Emil Chau. I had heard of Emil
Chau. I saw him in Rumble in the Bronx and Mr Nice Guy as
the ice cream man. I heard he was a singer, and Jackie's good
friend. But that was about it. I saw a short clip (does anyone
have it???) of Jackie at a concert with Emil, teasing Emil
about forgetting his lyrics, and saying he would come back
next year wearing pajamas if Emil remembered them all. That
was funny, But I still didn't know who Emil really was. But
then my friend made me that tape. It had Jackie's music on
it. I loved it. But one song was not Jackie's voice. It was
such an incredibly beautiful song! I listened to it in the
car, with all of my windows closed. Oh so beautiful!!! I called
up my friend and asked her who sang that song. She said Emil
Chau! The song turned out to be "You Make Me Happy Sad". I
got hooked! I didn't want to, because I can't even afford
all of Jackie's stuff.
But late last year I bought my first Emil Chau Wakin cd....Tarzan.
That was the only one the shop had. But it was wonderful!
Emil has such a beautiful voice. Very sweet. I am jealous
of all of you who have seen Wakin, or met him, or attended
his concerts. I wish I could too. I have many many many CDs
to buy...slowly! My poor pocketbook! But I look forward to
getting to know all of his songs. I am very very happy to
be a fan of such a wonderful man. Not only a great singer,
but also a great father, husband, and person.
