I am an Indonesian Chinese. Since small, I used to listen to Chinese songs especially the classic ones as my family like that a lot. I seldom listen to contemporary songs but as I grow up, I am exposed to that. But still my family didn't like contemporary songs.

It was in 1996 my aunt came back from Singapore bringing us a video of Wakin's concert. It was so funny that he become the first and the only contemporary singer that my whole family like. His first album that I bought is 'Emil & Friends'. I was so happy to own that album because we couldn't get Chinese original album in my hometown. My friend's father went to Malaysia and I asked him to buy for me. It was so nice that my friends start to borrow from me one by one. And since that time that the song 'Friends' become our group's favourite song. Whenever we were together, someone would get a guitar and we would sing it together. It was a great experience in my High School.

When I came to Malaysia to further my study, through internet, I have found a great friend. I happened to know her because she is Wakin's friend. And today she has become one of my best friend ever. She is very understanding and in fact, our friendship has grown stronger as time passes.

I am sure that if not because of Wakin, I will not know her and it means that I will never have the chance to know a good friend like her. To Julia in Mojosari, Indonesia, thanks for being my friend and to Wakin, thanks for being my inspirator and the light of my life. Your voice is my friend whenever I need a friend and your songs are great companions. Hope to see you and take a picture with you one day. I will wait for that.
